1. Don't be an ass to other people. If you have an issue with the game or with another player, please come talk to a mod -- we'll be more than happy to help you and will do our best to get any issues resolved!!

2. Not being an ass also means no godmodding. Don't think it's okay to assume how another character will react, how they'll deal with things, or how they'll act in any given situation. Always check with the other player first before taking any liberties with their character!

3. Plagiarizing is not acceptable. If it's brought to our attention that you're copying somebody else's application, your application will immediately be denied and you will be banned from further playing in the game.

4. You must 15 or older to join the game!

5. Be active! The point of joining a game is to have fun posting and commenting to others! Please don't apply for a character only to sit on them and never join in anywhere. That's disappointing to everyone playing, especially any other players who might've wanted to apply for that character. And not being active will unfortunately result in your character's removal from the game.

We run a Bimonthly Activity Check system and the requirements are as follows:

♦ 1 network post to piratejournal
♦ 20 comments that can come from any of the following:

  - Additional posts you make to piratejournal
  - Log posts in high_seas
  - Threads that take place in posts made by other characters

The Activity Check will occur once every two months!

6. Applying for different characters within the same fandom is allowed in certain situations. Namely, A) if the fandom in question has OVER 9000!!! characters, and B) if there is little chance that the two characters you're applying for would need to interact with each other.

7. Original characters are allowed. We also allow up to two canon AU versions of the same character. At this time, any other AU versions of characters that you yourself have created are not allowed. That includes game transplants! Fandom/Canon OCs are also not allowed.

8. As of right now, we are accepting a maximum of 5 characters per person. If you really want to apply for additional characters, we will consider looking at applications on a case-by-case basis. Factors that will determine whether or not you can have additional characters will include how active you are with your current characters, and how long you've had them. We do not guarantee that your 6th character will be accepted.

9. If you need to go on hiatus for any reason, please comment on the Hiatus Post with an estimated time of how long you will be gone. As long as you are listed as 'on hiatus' at any point during the last two weeks of the month, you will be exempt from meeting the Activity Check requirements. You can only remain on hiatus for up to one month. Any longer than that and we will unfortunately be forced to remove your character from the game. You also cannot be exempt from the Activity Check twice in a row due to being on hiatus!

10. If you find you can't keep up with RP anymore, or have to drop your character for any other reason, please comment on the Drop Post and let us know. We'll be sad to see you go!

11. We encourage you to come up with your own islands to explore! Pretty much anything is fair game, but you do have to submit the details of your islands over at the Island Registry so that they can be approved. All islands must be submitted for approval before your characters go there. This is mostly because, since this game is largely about doing your own world-building, we'd like to see that you put some thought into it! Islands will be approved as they are submitted, so you will have an answer back from a mod ASAP. The other reason we ask for this information is because all approved islands will be listed on the Island Registry so that other characters can visit them, as well!

12. We also encourage you to come up with your own events and plots! Although there will be events that are run monthly by mods, we also want you guys to feel free to come up with stuff! If there's something you think would be fun to do, just drop us a comment over on the Suggestions post so that we can schedule it properly!

13. Don't forget there is a Ship Registry / Crews page. USE IT! There will undoubtedly be some handwaving involved when it comes to crews getting their ships and being able to sail them with a limited number of people who possibly have never even been on a boat before in their lives, but we still want to know A) what kind of ship your crew has, B) who is on your crew, and C) your crew's name, of course! Have some fun with it! Helping us keep this page updated also allows us to make sure there aren't any characters waiting to join a crew. We want everyone to be involved!

14. Your character's powers are limited at High Seas. Use your own judgement here -- characters with "special moves" can probably still use them, but if you decide you want to make Vegeta the Prince of all Pirates, for example, we'd ask that he not just fly from island to island. That kind of defeats the purpose a little! That goes for you, too, Harry Potter -- no Apparating!

15. The most important rule of all...HAVE FUN!!!
